Who are you, what do you do, and what do you make?
The Natasha Marshall studio is seen as one of the leading textile design studios in the UK, creating contemporary graphic designs for fabrics and wallpaper. Our residential stocked studio collections showcase the best of British design and manufacturing. Or, if you have a specific project, our bespoke service is unique due to our worldwide mill and manufacturing knowledge. We have been producing flame retardant fabrics and wallcoverings for the worldwide hotel, cruise, leisure and healthcare markets since 1997.
What do you hope to achieve at Scottish Interiors LDN?
To grow our brand awareness in the UK and International markets. A showcase for our stocked fabric and wallpaper collections or bespoke design services to potential new clients, stockists, agents, distributors, representatives and influencers.
Feedback to our first showing of our ‘Fife Yacht’ collection of fabrics and wallpapers that will officially launch in January 2018.
Who are the dream stockists for the Natasha Marshall brand?
Clients who love simple design classics. Leading independent interior retailers who stock our pattern books and promote the Natasha Marshall ranges. Our style is very simple and graphic as our fabrics and wallpapers are designed to enhance the architectural space.
What tools and resources or mentors did you use to create your International Strategy?
We work on our International Strategy in-house, with Scottish Enterprise & Business Gateway through courses and focused help. To date we have grown International sales by exhibiting at trade shows and through social media.
What do you think the most important part in the creation of an International Strategy?
We are looking to grow key markets where they love our simple graphic design handwriting. We feel it is vital to understand each market you are selling into or targeting. Service is key in our sector, so we believe it is vital to have the funds to be able to fully service each new market with stocks and samples.
What are three milestones in your business trajectory that have gotten you to this point?
1. The excellent quality and service we offer to all our stockists and bespoke service clients. Customers all say how they love working with the team at Natasha Marshall due to our friendliness, knowledge, and quality of service that we give.
2. Our manufacturing knowledge from working with mills and manufacturers all around the world for the past 20 years. Our ability to add pattern onto fabrics, wall coverings, carpets, rugs, cushions, bedding, ready made curtains etc. right through to delivery.
3. Designing and building our architectural award winning, quirky design studio in Glasgow’s West End.
What is the Unique Selling Point of Natasha Marshall that you will use to sell the brand to buyers?
Our distinct design handwriting established since 1997 - ‘Simple iconic graphic patterns that are timeless and enhance the architectural interior space’.
From experience, our understanding of how to deal with export countries including the delivery and distribution processes.
Stocked ranges that we offer a full cut length and piece service on, through to our bespoke service for individual projects or ranges supplied with all the required technical specification information.
What are you going to do to prepare for Scottish Interiors LDN?
We are in the midst of inviting potential clients to the event. We are also researching influencers in each international market that we are keen to open; and have started to interact through social media. We are thoroughly researching each company we have meetings set up with, to ensure our pitch is focused on their market sector, as our full offering is very broad.
